Job Description

NCS Pearson has Professional Scorer positions open at all regional scoring centers.

Basic Purpose and Objectives

Evaluates student response to subject-related open-ended questions according to a customer supplied scoring guide. This position is hired on a temporary basis, project to project. Each project lasts anywhere from 2-8 weeks.

Organizational Relationships

Direction Received: Works independently under direction of Scoring Supervisor.

Major Responsibilities

• Evaluates student responses to open-ended questions in a reliable manner and rates according to customer supplied scoring guide.
• Internalizes training and customer scoring guide.
• Meets rate and reliability requirements established for project.
• Passes qualifying test before scoring.
• Possesses adequate clerical skills.
• Has teaching experience (preferred).
• Sets aside personal biases and applies scoring guide according to customer requirements.
• Commits to working the duration of the project.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Teaching experience preferred.

Skills and other Requirements

• Ability to maintain a confidential work environment required.
• Must be capable of working on a team.
